Somatic Healing is based off of the work of Dr. Peter Levine alternative therapeutic approach, Somatic Experiening, which aims to resolve different types of feelings, emotions, and traumas that are stored in the physical body. Somatic Healing is a body based
Here are some key principles and concepts associated with Somatic Experiencing:

Trauma as a Physiological Response: SE recognizes that during a traumatic event, the body's natural fight-or-flight response can become overwhelmed, leading to incomplete physiological responses and the "freezing" of traumatic energy in the body.

Titration: SE therapists work with clients to gently and incrementally explore and release the stored trauma energy in small, manageable doses. This process is called "titration" and helps prevent retraumatization.

Pendulation: Pendulation is the process of shifting a client's focus between the sensations of safety and relaxation and the sensations of distress and tension. This helps individuals learn to regulate their nervous system and build resilience.

Tracking Sensations: SE encourages clients to become aware of bodily sensations, such as tension, trembling, or warmth, to better understand their trauma responses and work towards resolving them.

Resourcing: Resourcing involves helping clients identify and connect with internal and external resources that can support their healing process. These resources can provide a sense of safety and stability.

Completing the Stress Response: In SE, the goal is to support the body in completing the physiological stress responses that were interrupted during the traumatic event. This may involve movements, vocalizations, or other forms of expression.

Gradual Resolution: Somatic Experiencing aims to gradually release the held trauma energy and restore a sense of safety and regulation to the individual. It is a client-centered approach that respects the individual's pace and comfort level.

Somatic Experiencing is used to treat a wide range of trauma-related conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and other stress-related issues. It is often employed by therapists, counselors, and other healthcare professionals trained in SE techniques. The goal of Somatic Experiencing is to help individuals heal from trauma and regain a sense of well-being and resilience by reconnecting with their bodies and their natural ability to self-regulate.
